When I search through halves I mostly look for pre-1971 and S marks but I've been hearing a lot about Not intended for circulation halves. How do you tell those apart? and are there other halves to look for besides a general search to complete a collection?

What is the general feeling? Are they more or less collectible than the 1976s which seem as common as roaches around here?

They're more collectible than bicentennials, but since bicentennials aren't worth more than face circulated, that's not saying much. I'd keep 87s and throw back anything else that isn't in MS (especially 2001P - too common).

the 76 Bicentennial coins will never be worth anything for a looong time, definitely not in any of our life and maybe not even our kids life. The allure to the NIFC coins is they had to be cut out of mint sets to get into circulation, it doesn't mean they are worth any more, just the fact it shouldn't be in circulation is enough for some people to pull them out when they are seen in circulation

The 70-Ds and 87s are from mint sets, but most of the other NIFC coins are from bags and rolls sold by the mint. Otherwise all the later date ones we'd find would have satin finishes. It's my understanding that people buy straight from the mint and slab all the high MS coins and just dump the rest, making up the loss by selling the slabbed coins. I've also read that some of those NIFC have been released into circulation by the government too. Can't verify the truth to that, but there are a lot of 2001Ps out there in the boxes for something that's supposed to be a collector only coin.

I have found about 6 rolls of 2002 and up. They are suppossed to be NIFC. 6 rolls seems pretty common for me. I am
keeping them for now but we will see in the end. They aren't making a ton of them compaired to other years though so maybe
in time they will be considered rare. Who knows.

I forgot all about the 70 d
also remember that the coins circulate in different areas a lot different
in 2 years all I have found is maybe 30 nifc coins
about 25 coming from the same box if you find someone who needs them its worth it to grab them up
