I am so upset I lost 100 dollars while going to get pennies and now I am done. I am on about to cry, that was my only money for roll hunting which is my favorite thing. I am upset about the money, that was my only money. I guess I am done with this hobby.
Bye.

uh...how did you lose 100. Were you robbed or did you just misplace it?

I don't understand what losing money has anything to do with you stopping the hobby you say you enjoy? It seems you made a mistake and are blaming collecting for some reason and it just doesn't make sense to me what one has to do with the other. I do understand that it was the only money you had to buy rolls and you are upset but that doesn't mean you quit, it just means you save up to get more rolls. If you saved up $100.00 once you can do it again. I am sure I have lost more than $100.00 in this hobby when it comes to buys that I made at the spare of the moment and then sold off and lost money on, but that is my fault not the hobbies and I would never let my mistake ruin the hobby I enjoy so much

You lose a hundred bucks and you're giving up coin collecting?
Coin collecting and paper money collecting is a passion with me. I began less than three years ago buying rolls of pennies (ten bucks at a time) and began putting a collection together. I sold a few higher dollar finds, bought more rolls.....long story short, three years later, my collection is now just passing $65,000 in value. I bought a bunch of silver, a lot of paper money errors, traded up and sold some (duplicates). I collect because I love it. The dollar value is just a bonus. If I lost it all tomorrow, I would just start the same way with $10 of pennies and carry on.
You never know what will come tomorrow and that's what I find exciting.
Losing a $100 and quitting, well maybe you just don't have the passion.

The great thing about roll hunting pennies -- you only need 50 cents!
But, hey, sorry you're obviously upset. I disagree with ikandiggit -- it seems you DO have the passion, and maybe you need a chance to cool off a bit. The hobby will still be here if you have a change of heart.
In the meantime, we'll hold on to your cool roll finds for you :)

Same as Jarwulf, how did you lose it? Or did someone rip you off? I hope you don't give up. How ever you lost it- learn from your mistakes and use precaution.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Try to get a good night's sleep. Things might look better in the morning.

It'll blow over. I understand it's probably a really frustrating and emotional time. Step away for a day or two and let things calm down. I'm sure you'll be back to go at it 100% again.

I always lose about 20 or 10 a every other month that makes me mad enough but now losing this much really makes me mad because it fell out of my pocket while I was in a bank and then 10 minutes later I called back and they told me they didnt have it. I guess I am not really quitting, Honestly I was just really upset and extremely tired. I'm back! I just need more money. While I was at the bank I did get a $25 box of pennies but I was planning to return that for some money to have but I just sold some rolls off 2011's so now I have 15 dollars for stuff I suppose. Any Ideas for making money from cent hunting because thats all I like to do because how fun it it and low cost it is. Eric Lang

Experience is the best teacher. Once you lose money out of your pocket a couple of times you'll start to learn to hold on to it.

Get a Tri-fold men's wallet.
Be sure to put your bills in it. Then get used to carrying it in your rear pocket on your butt, Even when it's empty!
It amazes me how many people do not carry wallets.

Well I'm glad you didn't lose that $100 at the grocery store buying food. I'd hate to see you give up food. I mean, you seem so young.

interesting post full of emotion cant say I lost any money roll hunting yet, but I can see where it would sting pretty hard especially 100 bucks, thats half of my share of rent hope all goes well and you get back on the wagon here I used to search 10 bucks of pennies and 10 bucks of nickels and had tons of fun also this is the reason I ONLY deposit my coins and withdraw the money for my bank transactions that have to do with boxes All I have to do is check my online banking and make sure everything worked out and I know where all my money is
