If it hadn't been for recent posts of this type of error I would have assumed this to be PMD and tossed it.

your coin is actually a strike through error. there's no peeling effect on the coin. it was probably truck through something like a wood chip.

Adam E could you explain what you mean? Also did this occur at the mint or is it PMD? My thought is that it occured at the mint.

it is an error that occured at the mint.

a strike through is when debris gets in between the coin and the die as it is struck. this one looks to be struck through wood.

Thank you Adam. I think I meant to say strike through all along. When you said possibly struck- through with a wood chip that threw me off. Now I understand what you mean.
