I have a 1921 S Morgan dollar that has a large die break over UNUM. It extents from the edge of the coin before UNUM and travels through UNUM. It travels through the star after UNUM and then over the edge of the coin. I have it circled in red on the photo. It is hard to see through the scan, but is very noticeable when you are looking at the coin. This was part of my Grandfathers coin collection that was left to his grandchildren. I was curious how the die break effects the value of the coin. Does anyone know an approximate value for the coin? Thanks in advance.

Die crack not die break. Die cracks are very common on Morgans, but die breaks are very rare.

The die crack doesn't particularly affect the value of the coin.

As of Saturday, 14, May, I would say that particular coin's value is tied very closely with the spot silver price per ounce. That would make the coin worth about $27.30.

Morgans are plagued with die cracks in the series and I believe 1921 is a date that may have more than any other date in this series so trying to find a 1921 Morgan without any die crack may be harder to find than one that has several

Thanks for the correction. There were actually 6 of these in the collection. This was the only one with a crack in it. I have a twin just like it that is in great shape. Thanks again for the info!
