Found this is a hoard I bought today at auction, how do you think it was done.

The reverse has fully raised detail, but the obverse is as flat as a tack. Oval shape. Quite interesting actually. Ideas?

Weird, is the coin a perfect circle or is it oval?

Kind of looks like it went through one of those penny souvenir machines, except not to the same extent, of course. Something similar perhaps?

Probably not, because the reverse details are quite good, in case of souvenit press, both sides should be defected.

Nearly perfect oval shape.

I must say, I haven't seen anything like it before. As zic said the reverse is quite good.
