Any Idea What This Asian Coin Is- And Is It Silver?

I imagine a moderator here can help by moving this post to it's proper section. Chriscoinmaster Valued Member United States 337 Posts	Posted 05/20/2011 11:39 pm I checked my world coin catalog and this coin design was minted in Japan from 1968-1988 composition: copper-nickel 22.5 mm, 4.20 grams I am not good at checking the dates but if yours is from 1978 then the mintage is 292,000,000 nothing too ordinary I don't think. The book says that varieties exist so if you like the coin look into it! I love holding onto any of the foreign coins I come across. If you are interested in foreign coins then I suggest getting the "standard catalog of world coins" I got the 2010 version at a bargain outlet in my area for 9.99 which was really cheap (the only reason I got it) if you can find it at a good price it is a really cool book. It has all the coins minted in the world from 1901-2000 (thats the issue I have anyways) cool coin and you cant move the topic I don't think but a moderator will get it soon! If so, I would consider it a favor if we could hook up something for me to get one of those at that price. {plus some for you and shipping, of course}. I didn't want to get stuck with a stack of books when I only needed one. Sorry I quickly found out it was a steal, but I was too afraid to get them. Plus I didn't have enough posts to sell at that time. Maybe next time I see something like this I will take the chance. Plus shipping would've been real high on a 20 pound book lol.
