I have a 1913 J 1/4 Rupie coin which I would like to sell, but I am not sure of the value of this coin. Does anyone know more about this coin? Mine has a bit of damage to it, seeing that it is this old one can expect that it won't be in mint condition. I have alot more coins I am not sure of and will appreciate any assistance? I am located in SA. Coin collectors offer any ridiculous low price just to get hold of coins and I'm afraid they might gain at my losses.

It's from German East Africa, the J mark tells us that it was minted in Hamburg (total mintage 400,000). It is .917 silver with an ASW of .0860 oz. Looking at my Krause catalog, in the condition that it's in, I'm estimating it would be worth around $10 US Dollars. If it was in perfect condition (XF+), it could fetch upwards of $40. Hope this helps
