My mom just pulled out a piggybank and we recovered 100 silver Canadian quarters. I would like to keep them but my mom wants ton know what they might be with to sell? Some are in not so good shape but others are fine. Thanks

Wow, just think of all that silver.
I think you should sell them now, the price may drop.

Wow! My mom loved her silver. We ended up with two mostly complete sets 1939-1968 with exception to 1954 and around five hundred silver quarters and dimes. I made the sets for my son and niece but now do I let her sell?

Gosh, confusing.

Why sell? That's not life changing money, but having a treasured collection that was Grandma's might be.

I have every single dime MY grandmother ever gave me. They are among my most cherished coins ever and proudly displayed.

I don't want to sell, which is why I made sets. My mom just isn't sure what she wants to do?She hasn't gifted them all to my son, but we deffinately have our set.
We have stored them safely away for now. It was great fun sorting with the family. We had some coins in a breakable bank but we managed to dig them all out with a hook that's a good way to spend a day.

If you were to keep the full sets, with the best ones available, then maybe she could cash the rest in for silver content. My wife and I bought all the rolls of silver quarters and dimes from her fathers collection after he passed away. The executors of his will were going to take the lot to the bank and cash them in. We were luckly to catch them in time. For your situation, her choice is to cash in the worn out ones, or keep them and pass them down. Even keep the good quality duplicate or triplicates, then decide what to do with the worn out ones. As Ugly has stated, if the amount in not a life changing amount, then maybe consider keeping all of them.

I am glad my son showed interest or who knows what would have happened to the coins. Apparently my dad sold most of her silver dollars quite a few years ago, she hasn't forgiven him.

Thanks for the feedback, I will let her know all of your great thoughts.
