A friend and I have been talking and we have differing views. Don't want to lead the discussion, so we are wondering if the forum has any grades/thoughts on this coin? Looks nice, though has a long slash from the right wing on the reverse almost to the 'E', which is not to visible on the picture, but the best we could get. Thanks for the input.

XF, maybe AU if a weak strike. Looks to have some luster remaining.

Hard to tell with these pictures but actually has pretty good luster. I guess I have to figure out how to use the camera better. Thanks for the input.

That was part of the discussion. I haven't seen anything that indicates that it is not, but I am no where near an expert. Do you see anything that would make you think it is not real?

Certainly looks genuine. The coppery toning and luster wearing in the fields, all seem pretty authentic. I look at the hair and feathers to determine grade on these up to AU. So I will say 35-45. I'm no expert either but I had my hands on about 25 quarter eagles just today. Spend a few bucks on getting it graded, peace of mind is priceless.
