I have an extensive collection of US coins. But I would like to get started in world coins as well. Could someone recommend a reliable reference book to help educate me on what to look for. A good reference book on world coins with pictures and information I guess.

Thank you

Buy the book before the coin.

This is just a basic sampling.

Once you focus on a specific area then you buy specialized books like for example:

Another good direction is South, as in "Down Under". Those Australians really know how to make a coin. I really love what they have to offer. The Kookaburra and Kangaroo Series......stunning. Great stuff!

I most certainly will do that. One of the reasons I was asking is a friend is going to be in Australia in the next couple months. She will be looking for so of their coins for me . Thank you for the suggestion.
