1963 Nickel With Grooves

I have found this nickel in a BU roll. It has straight grooves across half of the obverse side of the coin. The lines are through the relief and the fields. If this is a circulation coin my thought was after they were struck they fell directly into bins to be rolled? What kind of machine would have scratched this? Any ideas?

I am no pro but I would say the lines are die abrasion lines.
