My wife has bought less than 20 coins, see leaves that to me. This one stopped her in her tracks and she bought it. It was only $60. She kept saying it just looked so much sharper that the others that she wanted it. Tell me what you think. I say this is was a huge win! I think it is VERY beautiful. Since it is a tad worn on his hair, is it possible this has been cleaned? I don't know how to tell these types of things?

Those are always hard to grade but I think she made a very good buy. My guess would be MS64. Enjoy.

Assuming great eye appeal and luster that super clean nearly mark free coin has got to be MS66 FBL. Or could it go higher? Get past MS66 and I just don't know what they are looking at exactly but there is hardly a mark on it. I understand your excitement.

BEAUTIFUL! Is it just me or does the G in GOD and the T in TRUST look like they took a hit?

upstate,
Bingo! This coin is more like a new coin than anything I've ever held. I had an expert on Franklins look at it and he said he really thinks it will go MS-67 FBL. I don't see why it shouldn't make it, but you never know. IF it goes that far I'm giving up the coin hunting and turning it over to Amy. I didn't expect the coin to look better than the pictures posted in the auction.
I've been collecting for 40 years and I have to say that she is a natural at grading. I bought her a Photo-Grade book and she's always right on the mark. She has the eye. She worked as a photographer in her parent's shop whop when she was 7 doing proof albums, at 16 she started shooting 2 to 3 weddings per weekend and at 18 she started as the office manager. She's about as smart as anyone I know. Why she picked me, I'll never know.
harrison2,
The G and the T have small marks, but it doesn't look as bad as the photo. This one is NGC bound as soon as we get a chance. Wish us luck.

Wow, super clean fields and cheek. She is Good! These are known for being a bit banged up w/ bagmarks. Not this one. Please keep us posted. I am very curious to see if that can go beyond 66. Best of luck, Bob

Numismedia doesn't even list a price for 1953 MS67 FBL, I wonder if any have even been graded as such yet

Very nice coin, hard to see the luster in the pics though. Slight obverse MAD will reduce the grade IMO. MS-66

Wow is right! That's a MS-67 with the works (strong FBL) in these old eyes! Very nice!
