So can someone chime in on signed coins? I had never heard of a signed coin until I received a 2003 signed Sacagawea dollar from a friend.
So are these for the art enthusiasts, the specific collector or a hopeful investment? Do signings happen a lot?

Sorry I am just new to this concept..

Not sure what that is about. Who signed the coin? If signed by Sacagawea, then it could be worth a real lot.
If signed by your friend, no big thing unless he or she is famous.

There are a couple of possibilities. Les Fox has produced several different series of PCGS slabs with inserts signed by the coins designers, or famous athletes, Bicentennials signed by President Ford etc. For the most part these series collapsed and are worthless.

Another possibility is sometimes at coin shows numismatic "celebrities" sometime will sign slabs with a black sharpie marker. Glenna Goodacre and Randy Teton were well known for having signed many such slabs containing Sac dollars. Mint Directors Fore and Diehl have also been known to sign slabs as well.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. It is in fact a signed slab, not coin. It is signed Randy, and must be Teton?

I am collecting Sac's so it is a nice piece, I just didn't know signatures happened with coins.

Thanks everyone.

I was able to attend all five of the Lincoln Cent releases in 2009 and 2010. Director Ed Moy was at four of the five events. I was able to have him sign a roll of Mint wrapped cents of each release (LP1, LP2, LP3, LP4, LP5). He also signed rolls of cents from each ceremony.

It is a nice little set of rolls to own.

I wonder if they hold any premium? Hope so!

Randy'L Teton is Sacagawea, one of the very few living people ever depicted on a US coin.

Thank you biochemist6 that's a great site. It gives me more understanding of the signature.
