BLUF(Bottom Line Up Front)
I started reading the FAQ's, the MSDS and some other information on Verdi-Care. Can I get the Readers Digest version please? Please?Since this thread has been revived. I really would like to see some before and after unaltered scans or photos of this product in action. Or even a short video, I know about 100 more people that would like some more details.
I am not asking for the "Col. Sanders secret recipe".
I don't know who said it but it is really a cliche now. "A picture is worth a thousand words".
I have used diluted and undiluted e-Z-est clean on bullion and coins.
NEVER will I use undiluted again. I have ruined coins trying to "clean" them, and now they are in are in bullion bars somewhere. I doubt I would try e-Z-est on a coin again.
WARNING, WARNING, WARNING do not use e-Z-est on copper, unless you like a pink coin. I tested it on common date pre zinc Lincoln. Yes, pink.
But, bullion is what is and sells better when shiny.
I got it. Never clean a coin. T
hat 40 year old finger print, I don't like it. How do I get it off? Most of that toning is ugly to me. Unless it has an iridescent color and is attractive. Sulfur oxide is not attractive to me.
How do I get rid of the black, brown or other colors of toning? I suspect a lot of collections have coins that have been cleaned to some degree or another. I
s there any help to conserve those coins that have been dipped in the past? The mint "washes" coins. I don't know what is in that stuff. But, it is still on my some of my
Peace dollars and some of my other older coins. Some find that desirable. I am guessing it is desirable because you know it has been untouched.
Unless every coin you purchased straight sealed from the mint, then there is a high probability that some coin, in your collection, has been cleaned, dipped, washed, etc...
A lot of the problems with a "cleaned" coin may not show up for years. I understand all that.
Is there a fix?I have what
I consider a fair amount of silver. I have friends and family(Grandfather in the coin machine business for 50 years) with
a lot more than I have. I also have a lot of copper, nickel and clad coins. This is collection stuff, Morgans, Walkers, Mercury, Peace, Trade, etc, etc, etc. Also, some "dark side" silver I guess is the term that is thrown around for foreign silver.
The point being, is that I have a lot of different metals with a wide range of value.
I see changes in some of coins that are only 40-50 years old. Colors, spots, etc...I see $1000 face value bagged coins that have really changed in only a few years.
What will this product do to help me? I live in a desert environment(dry mostly, except during monsoon season). My coins are stored in a lot of Dansco books. But, I have a lot in OGP. I also have some in the plastic dollar tubes from the "green monsters". They are in safes, I even have desiccant, that I reactivate in the oven when it changes color to absorb any humidity out of the safes.
I also would like to get some of the better stuff out of $1000 face value bags and try to "fix" them up for resale.
I know I have a lot of questions. Just because I have a lot of coins and have been around them since I was a small child, I am still a novice.
I am looking for answers. This forum has helped me a lot. I search it and find a lot of answers. However, things change as newer technologies find their way into the market place.
Sorry for the long post and doubt many will read very much of it.
But some will and will answer the questions I have. For that I thank you.
Thank you for your patience with this novice.
