Hello everyone!
Was wondering if anybody out there could shed some light on this coin that an aunt or uncle gave me when I was a kid? It's pretty rough around the edges.

Some info on the coin:
Geoegivs III Rex on one side with the word copy under his picture.

NIA 1773 VIRGI on the other side.

Can't seem to upload any pictures at this time.

Any information would be great.
Thanks.

Thanks Valdiman!
That's the same coin that I've got!
Thinking that coin just found a new home in my binder.
It's been a good coin day!
Thanks again.

Virginia halfpennies aren't cheap - I paid $77 for mine off ebay back in 2004, and I think that was a bargain price:

So if your coin is genuine, it was a very generous gift. But you should be aware that there are fakes and reproductions of these around; we've seen them here on the forum before had had to be the bearer of bad news. The one in the link posted by valdiman is on a site that sells these replicas. This old thread has another such fake, the pics of it are re-posted below:

Note especially the beaded border around these fakes, which the genuine coins simply don't have; the legends on the genuine coins are very close to the edge, with no border or rim between.

Just re-read your opening thread and noticed you said it had "COPY" under the portrait. Sorry about that.
