Hello, hope this forum can help me. My dad passed to me a gold ring with a Caesar Elephant coin mounted in it. Can you tell me if it is authentic or not. I have no reason to believe it is not so. Thanks

George

Is the colour of the coin itself gold, or silver? The coin is the famous elephant trampling snake" denarius, but it's supposed to be silver. If it's gold, then I strongly suspect that the coin is a jewellery replica.

Be careful! There a lot of fakes of these, one of the more famous of Roman coins.

Take it it an experienced reputable dealer when you have time, so he can see it in the hand.

The coin is silver. I did not use a flash so I could show more detail so it came out kinda gold color.

Anyone know of a reputable dealer in the Atlanta area. Thanks
