Pulled out the new weapon for today's hunt
My New Garrett AT Pro Arrived on Thursday evening. On Friday I played around with it a little getting to know it.

Today we went to several schools that were supposed to be hunted out.

I am blown away by the performance of this new machine. Finds Quarters at 18 inches. Went over the area twice once with the sensitivity turned way down to pick up the surface and near surface targets. even then it was going down 4 inches. Then went over the area again with the sensitivity turned up. If you get a beep there is a target you just have to keep digging down..

Nice bunch of stuff! I would like to get a Metal Detector sometime, yours sounds like a good one.
Do you mind saying how much you paid for it?

Retail is Around $700 I haggled and dumped all the extra goodies they like to include and ended up paying a little over $500 for just the machine. I could probably have found it a little cheaper here in Texas but then I would have had to add sales Tax.
Paid for with the coins I found with my old detector..

That is the way to upgrade your detector, pay for it with the finds of your older one. I haven't had a chance to use a lot of Garretts, I myself use a Tesoro Lobo ST, Tesoro Cibola, and a Minelab Excalibur II. Sounds like the Garretts can hold their own. Do you use a pinpointer? If so, which one?

Both the Ace 250 and the AT pro have excellent pinpoint functions and with a little practice you don't need a stand alone pin pointer.
I like Garrett but I am a firm believer that you only get out of your machine what you put in to it. I spent weeks practicing in all types of ground. I'm still learning after almost 6 years..
