Most of my silver coins are low grade (AG3 to F12), so I have a lot of difficulty with grading nicer coins. Is this an MS coin? Has this quarter been dipped? Or is it impossible to tell due to the scans provided

First of all, It looks like the pics are taken with the coin in a 2 X 2. I can vouch from experience that taking photos through the plastic of a 2 X 2, things can be very different. I learned that on this forum. The detail on the obverse with the hair, eyes, neck and lettering show that it should be a MS coin. It looks like that are two small punch marks near the bottom of the neck. Hopefully, it is the plastic. About the reverse, the mane, eyes and nose all look in top condition. It is hard to tell the rim near the 64, looks like some small punch marks, or is that the plastic? There also seems to be a small mark just below the middle of the ear. If all the small marks are from the plastic, then I would grade the coin at least MS60.

The rim and denticles at the top and bottom of the quarter don't look uniform? Does this problem relegate the coin to melt value?

I would say MS I can't see any wear marks on the coin.

Looks MS 63, if it didn't have those hits on the cheek the strike is good enough enough for a higher grade. As it is, it's a nice 63.

I see a big fingerprint on the reverse. Is that on the coin or the mylar flip? If the former, then that pretty much kills the numismatic value on a common coin (i.e., melt).
