Hey there... I picked these up 15 years ago or so. obviously the two pics on the right are front and back and the same with the two on the left. I have not been able to find these in any book or internet. I try every now and again. I don't think they are gold, haven't gotten them tested, but they look it. I was thinking that it maybe from some overseas people that were pushing them out. The only thing that really bugs me about them is they are EXACTLY one troy ounce...... Anyways... any help would be appreciated! Thanks! ~ Wolfie *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

they must be from a private mint because I have never sen any design like these before from the US Mint. Do you see any markingsd anywhere that would shed some light on what mint minted these medals, or even what the metal content is?

These are not US Mint coins ... but they are great to look at. Looking for additional clues ... perhaps this thread might get better visibility and reply in the 'unknown' forum .. David

I'll tell you... the commems are stunning and not cheaply made, or at least don't appear to be, lol... I searched the coins and even the edges and found no markings of any type indicating where they might have been made. I have not found any like it... on the other note... I didn't know there was an unknown forum, Thanks!

I suspect gold-plated copper.

so what do you think? should I get one of them tested? reeded edge so I think I could almost hide the file marks...

I really doubt that the gold content is more than a thin plating but they could potentially be silver although biggfredd is probably correct that they are gold-plated copper. A diameter would be helpful in figuring out the base metal.

Well look at that! Thank you so much... It is an exact match, looks like that one is more a worn brass type to me, but none the less it is another one of the same commem. one step closer... lol...

I am going with maybe 24kt Gold Plated on this one.... since almost all the ones that are like this are, I think it is a pretty safe thing to say....
