As the topic says, I have a 1999 Georgia quarter with some errors. I scanned the quarter below (either I don't know what I'm doing, or my scanner stinks), but the pictures are a bit on the blurry side, so I'll try to describe what you see the best I can.

In the picture of the face, you can see a slight blurb on the bottom of Washington's neck, just a hair to the right of center; those are the letters "JF." On the back side, you can see along the edge how it appears to have been double-stamped or something, and you can also see that the stamp is offset to one side a bit. The face has the same features of the edge appearing to be double-stamped and offset, but it's not as pronounced as the back side is.

Should I have this thing looked into, or just slap it in the vending machine? If I have it looked at, where would I go to get it appraised or whatever? Knowing my luck, it's worth 30 cents and I'll spend $5 finding that out.

Thanks!

Hello Semvhu

Welcome to the forum !!! I'm sorry that you were not welcomed more promptly !!

I dont see anything that would add value to the coin pictured, the letters on the obverse at the base of the bust are the designers intitals JF( John Flanagan)

as for any doubling that is present, although it doesn't show very clearly in the scan, My guess is that it is a little bit of Mechanical Doubling and does not place a premium on your coin, the fractional off center also is within tolerances and does not add value.

I hope this helps !! and please post any other error coin questions, I am happy to have company .

Once again Welcome to the Forum !!!

Thanks for the welcome!

Ah, I see. When I first saw the initials, they looked like they weren't supposed to be there with the way they're partially buried into Washington's neck. Looking at a picture at coinpage.com, the "JF" in their Georgia quarter picture is more separtated from Washington's neck; I doubt the slight offset into his neck does much for the value either. Otherwise, I didn't think the offset and double around the edges did much for the quarter's value, but I was hoping the combination of "errors" I was seeing added up.

Thanks! I'll keep on looking for errors. I'll also do a tad more research so I'll know more what I'm looking at next time.
