Whilst scanning through ebay, I found the following. It is something that I've never heard of before, and would like to see a few opinions of them

Links to them on ebay are http://cgi.ebay.com/Elongated-Penny...em3350f65105 and http://cgi.ebay.com/Elongated-Penny...em3350f65105
There are others from the same supplier.

Comments and opinions, Please!

Bill.

It is a rolled penny. There are many kinds of these rolled pennies around. They are privately made and can be of any subject. I have a few of them myself, one from a coin show commemorating the show. They don't have much of a premium. There is a machine in a city near me that you insert a penny and 75 cents and you get a rolled penny with a design of the city on it.They are also made with other denomination coins, but mostly on pennies.

Google "rolled pennies" or "pressed pennies" and you'll find a lot of info on it. Collectors of these more often trade rather than sell.

I recently made 5 of these when I was at the Shed Aquarium in Chicago over Memorial Day Weekend. I used a 2011 P LSC and the shield is still visible on the reverse.

also called elongated cents. Disney has marketed these things like crazy. You can get maps of the locations of these machines throughout Disney parks, sometimes there is a thematic set of 4 machines plus a machine that presses a quarter.

On ebay I found some made on steel cents. I thought that was unusual.
