I'm not a coin collector, but my son found this coin. I am pretty sure its a fake, BUT ya never know right. I've done all the searching I can handle looking at image after image, and I just cant figure out what this is, or what it's a fake of.

I hope to find out either way, it would be interesting to let my son know what it is, real or fake.

The image of the side of it is what clues me into it being a fake. It looks like two coins smashed together, or somthing overlayed onto a regular coin.

Any help is really appriciated. You'll make a 7 year old very happy.
Rest in Peace

Looks like a replica of an old English penny.

Replica it is, but not an English penny; it's a replica pirate coin, a "piece of eight" or 8 reales from Spanish Bolivia. If it were real, it would be made of silver. See this thread for another recently posted example, with a link to what a genuine silver 8 reales should look like.
