Hey Danlos, I have some F.Y.I. for ya! On October 22, 2010 @ 22:00 hrs., I was fortunate enough to win a Canada, C.C.C.S., 1870, dime, (hard slab) Narrow "0", MS-63, dime for $556.00 Can. at a Torex on-line auction. The scan of the actual coin really was poor and I did not have high hopes, believing I'd probably be receiving an MS-62 in an MS-63's clothing?
Low and behold, I received the said coin in due time. When viewing the piece, I was glad I was sitting at the edge of my bed, 'cause I was having fainting spells.
It was an absolute drop dead MS-64 (in my Honest opinion) with gorgeous gold/olive toning. I "cracked the coin out" from the hard slab holder, and off to I.C.C.S. it went.
Yes, two weeks later I received the coin from I.C.C.S. and it was given the grade MS-64. Attached was a photo taken by Scott Cornwell stating, "Glen, I thought you might like a snap shot of this beauty".
I feel that Louis Chevalier, owner of C.C.C.S. has to make a name for himself since he is involved with a new T.P.G. Let's not forget "this is the same way" I.C.C.S. got their coveted reputation among Numismatists around the World.
This is the only experience I've had with C.C.C.S. concerning comparing coins to I.C.C.S. I still and most likely always will have a preference for I.C.C.S., simply because they retaing their value among the highest returns of all T.P.G.'s in auctions sales as well as being the most consistent of all T.P.G.'s for Canadian coinage.
Of my 500+ I.C.C.S. graded coins, the only bone I have to pick with 'em is, "why did you under grade 'em so low"?
Glenn
