If you are lucky enough to get such a coin from circulation, Lady Luck has smiled on you to enable you to obtain such a coin in this way. Begs the question: What are the 'sleepers' that are currently in circulation? Try to find those coins which few are looking for! Get 'em now before circulation wear lessens their value, they need to be in top condition to engender interest in them in 20 years time. Report this Post to the Staff

Unlike the 1909SVDB you still have somewhat of a chance in finding one. How many people have found a 1909SVDB? I know someone on the cent searching thread found a 1914D, but how many others have found something like that? If you want to find a valuable coin in circulation, you got a much better chance finding a not so old error. Not as many people have been looking for it as long because it isn't as old. Changeless Valued Member 273 Posts	Posted 07/02/2011 09:31 am It is hard to beat the Lincoln Cent as a category of "coins in circulation" where there are still many (MANY!) sought after examples "in circulation".... found in 'pocket change' every day by somebody somewhere. It is mind boggling, really, the potential "valuable" Lincoln Cent you might find... and in the pursuit gain an education. While I know it's hard to find 99% of the coins listed in the book, it does give you an idea of just how many coins you should be looking for. They show a 2003 "Perfect Strike" Cent graded by PCGS at MS-70 for $12,500! Makes me want to start roll searching. The key to finding a coin with the most value in circulation is knowing the Variety Coins by heart. They are out there and passing from one person to another. Learn what to look for and you just may find that a coin you get in change has enough value to buy a nice collection of coins. I always look at a 1969-S for the DDO. Even though the chance of finding one is 1 in several 100 Trillion(?) Cent coins in circulation, the last person to find one thought that too. You have better odds of winning the Power Ball Lottery than finding coins like the 1969-S DDO, but I still look, do you? ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? There hasn't been one of those turned up in circulation for probably a couple of decades. There have been two found recently, but they were found in BU rolls of 69-S cents. Better candidates would be the 82, 84, or 97 doubled die cents. They do still turn up. I also like the suggestion of the 92 and 92-D CAM cents. Report this Post to the Staff
