Here is a prime example of what I have been seeing of the price craze of Franklins lately. This 1952 example is only valued at $20 for a MS-63 which I grade this one at and yet the price is almost double that at the moment. Look at any Franklin on ebay that is touted to be high grade (whether it is or not, you just have to say it is seemingly) and the price escalates beyond what it's current value is. I believe that next years RedBook will show a good step up in price in the Franklins. Do you think the grade on this one is higher than MS-63? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...45&rd=1&rd=1Edited by Irishraider 11/12/2006 4:47 pm

For a philly coin is is not exceptional, it may go 64 in hand but on the other hand it may only go 62 if the dings that I see are real.It does not appear to come even close to FBL's,, this may just be a case of bidder rivalry or the coin is some how sentimental to one or the other, or both.
I guess I wont tell you what I just paid for the 52-S !!

That one was a bidding war between people who seem to have more money than brains, judging from their previous wins.

Rick, there are a couple dates like that one that will get me but I think I will be waiting until tax returns or maybe my Christmas bonus for a couple of those. I agree with Dave also that there are more people with a lot of money than they have brains when it comes to those bidding wars. The only problem is they are making it harder for me to complete this set, and all my others also. I am learning more patience than I care to have but I think it will pay off in the end.

Patience is the difference between posting rants, and posting brags.

Ahhh, I am jealous. You snagged a good one there. How come I can't get that lucky. LOL! I like the one Bryan posted also. I haven't got a '55 yet but am leaning more towards a non Bugs Bunny one for the set. I may get a Bugs after I get the set complete though. Oh, also, I saw somebody selling a 1951 Bugs Bunny. Is this a new discovery for this type? I have never heard of any other except for the '55.

never heard of a 51 BugsBunny but I also dont usually collect these things. I just wanted a Bugs bunny so I could give it to my 6 year old daughter to try to get her interested in all things coins, she has already shown a intyerest and calls all of my coins hers but she really liked that a coin could be named after a cartoon character that she knows and loves

Rick, That 51-S is awful pretty. Here's a circulated example that I bought tonight: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...45&rd=1&rd=1I may be missing something, but that BIN price was, um, too good to pass up.
