I purchased this set today. I have only located one set like it on ebay that did not provide any relevant information. The set is from 1980 and comes in a wooden case made by renwick. The insert in my casing is black not red like in the photos on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/Canada-Official...em1e5d8efcbd

this link take you to the ebay listing.
any information you can provide would be wonderful.
Thanks
melissa

Welcome to the forum !

I can't give you any concrete information, I can only offer the thought that the coins look like a standard specimen strike from that year. That means the coins are valued at their customary 10 dollar or less mark and the case has to make up the balance.

If that boxed coin set had some definable and documented history it might be worth something to someone. But the coins themselves appear to be standard issue and as a collector of coins and not of boxes, that's what I'm drawn to evaluate.

I looked at his store and everything he has for sale I would not buy as it is way to much for the value.
