Unidentified-Greek?

I have this coin that I hope someone recognizes. I went through the Seaby's old book and looked at Wildwinds and see nothing like it. It is copper, measures about 20mm. The obverse has a man/god image facing left. The reverse has a man standing with a dagger or spear in his right hand to strike at an object (snake?). The Greek letters Î"ΙÎ" are at the right. It looks as though there is a monogram (like ME) at the left of the man.

Thanks for any help.

I am guessing a bit. Without reference, it looks like Alexandrian, has Greek text on reverse. The obverse looks like Cleopatra (won't guess the number).

I have since searched a bit. Could also be a Cyprus mint, and I am starting to suspect Cleopatra V11 (51-30BC).

Perhaps that may narrow your search a tad.

I believe it to be Messene in Messenia. Their coins often have a head of Demeter on the obverse and Zeus Ithomates on the reverse. Here is an example of a similar coin but with the head of Demeter facing right from wildwinds.

Thanks. I think Martin nailed it. The coin weighs 6.26 grams and I found a very close match in the ANS database. AE Coin, Messene, Peloponnesus, Messenia, 370 BC-280 BC. 1944.100.38820 (http://numismatics.org/collection/1944.100.38820). The third Greek letter apparently is Omega (not Delta).

Thanks to both respondents! I appreciate the tips on IDing this one.

Regards
Phil
