I think this one is right on target just from watching movements the last 3 months.

Good read. I think silver will have to start moving soon, esp when gold hits 1600....

Moody's downgraded Ireland today and Italy is taking a pounding this week. Spain and Portugal are next on the horizon and Greece is being beaten like a bad child. They aren't even talking about the U.S. Situation except today there have been murmurs of QE 3 related to the impending necessary raising of the debt ceiling so that all of our retired Federal employees will continue to receive their $100,000 per year pensions along with full-ride health insurance for them and their heirs. Gold is where all of the rich people are headed to hedge the dwindling greenback. Silver's industrial use is falling under increased scrutiny now that the real condition of our economy is becoming common knowledge as opposed to the company line that Obama an his henchmen have been spewing for the last year. Of course the recession is deeply into recovery mode (yeah, right.) Gold is on it's way to $2000 and it's little brother silver will end up over $100 once the paper silver is exposed for the pile of bunk that it is. Keep picking up those little gold coins that you love, Hawk. There's gold in them tha'r hills boys!

Yes, a very good article; tough to argue with the conclusions. Thanks for posting...

I read a few months ago that gold had gained 50% over the previous 12 months. During that same time period, however, silver had gained 400%. Given that kind of rise, perhaps it is about time that gold got off its "duff" and out-performed its little brother?

Also, is there a competition between silver and gold? Not to me there isn't. I thoroughly enjoy having as much of both on hand as I possibly can.

Ed_B,I couldn't agree with you more! That is why I have a nice stash of both. I posted that article to help give some hope to many who have just gotten into the silver market. Sometimes it's really hard to hang on but I think time is the friend of all PM owners. When folks see gold shoot up and silver stay flat or drop, they start to question their decision. This article will, hopefully, give some insights into a very volatile market and some good reasons(and arguments for spouses)to stay the course!

Couldn't the USA issue domestic treasury notes backed by something (tangible yet consumable/usable that can expire so that they change hands quick) to pay off its debt? It might not pay it off all at once but it'll return confidence to the government.

We sure could. How about if we create a new currency that is backed by wheat, corn, soybeans, chicken, and beef? We could call it "the foodie" or some such.

Good plan, Hock. My silver stash is coming along nicely and new additions are already planned. Would like to have some gold but it is rising faster than I can run to catch it! X-p
