I have always liked the look of errors but never had the cash to get any. What are some cheap errors that I can buy?

You could pick up some rolled coins and search yourself. Check out some of the roll-searching threads and you'll see some error coins and varieties bought real cheap - face value! These are a few that I've found roll searching. Total investment - $.09:

My new found love is RPMs. They are cool. Some are amazing. Most are VERY affordable. Finding them in the wild is exciting. Going to a site like coppercoins and identifying the one you find is a huge thrill, even if it turns out to be worth only a few bucks.

There is a bi annual mail auction in Oz that usually has 50 or so errors. Most common are offset strikes and bitten edges, $20 to $50 range, errors struck on the wrong planchet around $100 and above, mules around $300 to $500. (reserve prices).
