Personally, I would avoid buying any supposedly "unsearched" wholesale lots on ebay, seeing as most of the time they are the exact opposite. The seller will search the roll, pick out the goodies, reroll the coins, and sell them to you for a premium as an "unsearched" roll, thus striking a profit on nothing but junk. As always with ebay...buyer beware!

If you are looking for key or semi key coins, avoid those lots. If you are looking to increase your collection without spending a lot of money, these may be just what you need.

I, too, am sure they have all been searched. Probably numerous times! The absolute worst are the rolls that show an Indian cent or the reverse of a BU wheat. They always tell you they can't guarantee what you will find inside. I usually can. A few common date IHCs and some 40s or 50s wheats. Having said all that negative stuff, if you are not paying more than you would for common date coins it can be fun. Especially if you have kids involved and are filling in some albums. So long as you don't get your hopes up. You have to watch the shipping as well. Look at the total cost.

WARNING!!
Never buy any of the one that says they are (unsearch*) lots on ebay.

*Maybe not search by the seller, but other had numerous times.

I am a good example from the past, its 99.99% BS!

Yes it seems strange how a lot of sellers have an 09 VDB on both ends and then when you get the roll it is all 40's and 50's wheats in it.

I actually bought a roll for my first time just to prove a point and to gather information. The roll I got had mixed dates from 1898 to 1958, every coin was very common though. the coins from the teens were very common ones, and there were many duplicates in the roll. I don't think there are really any unsearched rolls out there, and if they are then that is a rare occasion.

Beware the words "unsearched", "wholesale" and "estate" on ebay. Those are all words used by people out to take your hard earned cash and give you junk in return. If I ever see any of those words, I run....FAST.
