Saw two Morgans on ebay - 1886-CC and 1888-CC. Coming out of China, and pretty cheap (go figure).
Looks like these guys would do a little homework if they're going to try to swindle the public. Of course, someone, in the beginning phases of collecting with little knowledge of the hobby, might believe they are getting a good deal.....until they try to resell them.
Wonder why ebay doesn't do something about these scam artists, and, yes, I reported both sellers to ebay.

Good job Ralph. I agree.....any thing from China sets off a red flag for me...real or not, I will not buy. I'm glad you reported them.

I think swamperbob had some kind of report on why ebay doesn't keep going after these fakes (something about them keep getting sued about something) but I am not 100% positive what he said, I will do a search for it in a few minutes

I almost think it depends on which rep at ebay receives your report. Sometimes they react immediately, pull the auction and NARU the seller, and other times the auction never goes away at all.

I haven't seen anything being done. Oh sure the must have told the seller to put their product under a different catagory. But I still see plenty of counterfiet/fakes on ebay when it comes to coins. Best bet....stay away from the Chinese when buying coins. And get educated on what the fake will look like. Someone on ebay told me to compare the "fake" with a high grade of the same coin. So far it has worked.

Boy those 1886 and 1888 Carson City coins are REALLY rare here in the states!!! Guess they sent them ALL to Southeast Asia after striking them? And now, after all these years the collectors over there are finally ready to send them back! What a great bunch of guys!!!

I seriously believe people buy them for comedy value. Especially the ones with casting bubbles all over them:

"Jumpin' Jack Frash is a gas, gas, gas.."
