Hello, This is my first post on the Coin community Forum. I recently found a coin which an 1887 Canadian quarter. I then researched it online and found out that it could be worth $400 and up in great condition, so I was wondering if mine was worth anything near that because it's in pretty rough shape. It is a little dirty on both sides, but I didn't wash it with soap or anything because as a collector I know that decimates the value of the coin. you can see the front pretty well, the only thing that is worn is the details in Victoria's face and the C in Canada. Now on the back you can see 25 cents and 188 but the 7 is pretty faint, I can barely make out the 7 but I am 90% sure it's a seven and not another number. I graded this coin as GOOD but I am not so sure. so basically my question was, what's would you grade it as, and what is it worth? I am just wondering because I am thinking of selling it but I do not know what to price it as. I have attached photos.

Here is a link to an ebay auction for the same coin just in better condition: http://cgi.ebay.com/1887-Key-Date-C...350099126338

Thank You,
Kyle.

In good condition, CCN has trends for a coin graded Good 4 goes for $125.00 This year is truly a tough coin to find in any grade. Definitely a keeper but I am not sure about the condition - It's not quite a good 4 in my opinion any would ask others for theirs. The problem is that the date in my mind needs to be seen.

Trends lists this coin in G-4 at $125.00..
Two things to note with this coin.
(1) It is in very bad shape and, (2) it is in very bad shape, but it does have something going for it and that is it is a semi key coin with a low mintage.
Eye appeal is everything in valueing a coin and while it may have a book value of $125.00 you may be lucky and get $50.00 for it.
Its a keeper though because of its pedigree. This collector would place it in his collection until a better example came along.
By the way to the forum..

Grade it AG-3 scratched. Retail would be $90 for this coin, a dealer would probably sell this coin for $60. Definitely a filler coin, you would realize a better price selling it online ( ebay or online listings).
