This is my first post on here, though I have been a regular visitor to this forum. It contains a wealth of info, especially for a beginner like me.

I'm puzzled about this coin. The owner thinks it is arabic, but I'm not sure it is.

Anyone knows what this could be?

Hello and welcome.

It's not an Arabic coin; rather, it's an imitation of an Ottoman gold coin.

It's difficult for me to try to show you what a "genuine coin" looks like to compare it with, because they've modified the design of this item quite extensively. But the squiggly thing on the bottom pic is an extremely stylized toughra, the ornate signature of the Sultan that appeared on Ottoman coins. This old silver coin shows the style of toughra this coin is trying to imitate.

The five-pointed star, however, is novel, not appearing on any genuine Ottoman coin. Here is an example of your type of imitation.
