You can in Washington State as well, Trip, once you get a CC permit from the local sheriff's office. Cost is $60, good for 5 years, half that to renew. No class needed but they do take fingerprints and do a background check before issuing the permit.
Too bad that more states don't have reciprocity or that a 50-state fed permit can't be obtained. Living near another state and transporting arms for various legitimate purposes should be easier and not harder. As they used to say, "An armed society is a polite one".

Well, that's one way to send a message to anyone in the store planning no good.

LOL! I LOVE it! 2 ozs. of copper coated zinc at 1100 fps should be quite discouraging to the criminal types.

I can well imagine, Hawk. Most crooks like easy scores, so making their lives difficult works well to get them to go elsewhere for their thieving. I can well imagine that if thieves were hung, we'd see a LOT less of that kind of activity.

Professionalism can also be on the side of the good guys. When it is, that makes a thief's job MUCH tougher. In many cases, it is likely to be tough enough that they will move on to easier pickings.

It's been getting the job done for 100 years, so it must have something going for it. I like the fact that it doesn't have excessive penetration and that a 0.452" diameter slug does not have to expand to produce a fatal wound. I have a Colt Combat Commander that I bought back in the 1980s. I got it for home protection when our kids were small. The hammer spring is so strong that they could not cock it. That allowed me to keep in next to the bed with a loaded mag in it without posing a danger to any curious kids.
Speaking of kids... I got them into target shooting early on. Also showed them the guns I had anytime they wanted to see them. We had strict rules about the guns but they were not forbidden fruit type curiosity items. Son took to it like a champ but daughter did not like noise or recoil so never showed much interest. That's fine with me. All I wanted to do was provide a little experience and enough knowledge so they could each make an informed choice.

If you're not up to anything, just ignore them. They have a job to do but that doesn't have to interfere with your shopping. Consider them as furniture that rearranges itself from time to time.
