I am trying to put together a complete jefferson set from circulation. I've only done about 18 boxes, but I still haven't had any 2009 p nickels, while I have found 145 2009 d nickels.
east coast searchers: how many 2009 p nickels do you dine on average per box. do you find at least one per box or is it more like one every 4 boxes?
and is there anyone here who could pick up 2 boxes for me and ship them to me, if I paid shipping costs?

I find about a dozen per box, others find none.
Wouldn't it make more sense to just ship however many 2009-P nickels you want instead of shipping whole boxes? Probably some east-coasters would be willing to trade 1-for-1 for 2009-D.

yes that would make more sense, but then again I could just buy them from the coin shop. the whole point of putting together an entire set of Jefferson nickels from circulation is that I "find" them by myself. It would not be as great a feeling if I didn't. cause then I could easily just trade some key dates I found with other members and I could finish the set easily. I need to find them myself. but thanks for sharing captainfwiffo! i think if I get 2 boxes I should have a fair shot at getting 1 2009p nickel. |

My thoughts exactly ... and that is the spirit of roll searching ... I fully agree with the comment of find them myself. No doubt I could purchase my last two needed Jefferson tomorrow for less than $5 ... but that is not why I roll search ... I am looking for the personal satisfaction of completing the set on my own. To the original question ... I live on the right coast and find appx 2 total 2009-P Jefferson per box today ... Hope that helps ... David |

I've had the same problem in Texas -- I find rolls of 2010 P & D, find several 2009 D, but not a single 2009 P. I Approve of your solution!

I am in Texas as well. Same as specksnyder, I am finding lots of 2009 D but have yet to find a P from roll searching.

i think I have a 2009D too.

If anyone is willing to ship 2 boxes to me from the east coast, I would pay for the shipping, and maybe even a little extra for the trouble.

My banks are so stingy with boxes of coins, otherwise I'd send you some, because I get a fair number of 2009 nickels (and Buffaloes, and War nicks, and that 2004 doubled die that I always like to brag about.) If nobody else volunteers in the next week or so, let me know and I'll see if my bank will order an extra couple boxes.

thanks captainfwiffo! I don't want anyone to go through a big hassle for me though, so if it's too much trouble i'll wait for someone who gets boxes easily.

I live in NJ and wouldn't mind setting that up for you, I can't say I've searched a full box of Jefferson's, But I buy 10 rolls of Jefferson's along with other denominations all the time. I empty them out into a jug. Until its full. Sort it all, then search through it. Then cash in. Sorta my savings and searching tied into one. Can't give you an exact number but out of $1100 their were 4 or 5 but thats with quarters and dimes as well. I'm in the market for a West Point Roosevelt if you happen to have multiples. If not no worries. Like to help out.

No problem, You like the way I worked that Roosevelt in their. LOL If things don't work out let me know. Are they coming from NY NJ or PA. Figure Tri State Area is probably your best odds. Good Luck, Let us know how you made out. If you get skunked I'll send you a roll that I think ;) are sure to have some in. This way you found them searching. lol

haha, yeah I have 1 west point dime in my 7070 and another that is slabbed. I don't have extras :/ and haha, throw me a roll that is bound to have one. thanks! I'm sure I can get 1 of what I want from 2 boxes... well hopefully! and you can get a west pointroosevelt on ebay for $12-$14 bucks. I think that's not a bad deal. |
