EarlyMilledCoins Valued Member United States 147 Posts	Posted 07/24/2011 12:01 am I just purchased this coin from a seller on ebay. I have been looking at the picture of the one I bought and I was comparing it to others. I don't know if its just me or my untrained eye, but the one that I bought looks different than other pictures I have looked at of the same coin. I was wondering if I could get some opinions about this. The first two pictures are of the one I bought and the rest are others pictures I found of the same coin. The biggest thing I noticed is the bow at the back of the head. Mine has a little loop and I noticed the others don't have that. It just all around seems different; the bust seems different, the hair seems different and the lettering on the obverse seems a little different, maybe its just me? All insight is much appreciated. sel_69l Bedrock of the Community Australia 21788 Posts	Posted 07/24/2011 05:16 am Referring to the coin you bought: There is obvious wear on both obverse and reverse. Grade: nearly Very Fine. This coin has: the second bust: ties and loop end to the hair ribbon, and and SSC reverse. The other coins are of the first bust: ties two ended. There were two major obverses for the 1723 date as already stated, and three major reverses: Roses and Plumes, SSC and WCC. Ref. 'English Milled Coinage 1662 - 1972' by Geoffrey M. Cope and P. I knew there were a couple different reverses but I didn't know there were two different obverses. I am still not very familiar with English coins (or coins in general I suppose; I've always liked them by how they look, never got pass that) but I am slowly learning something new each day.
