Hello, I found this 81 LMC while roll searching, It gleams proof behind and through all the damage, My scanner doesn't pick up the clear reflective fields. But theirs no S on it. Is their another way to know if this is a Proof rather then a Proof Like business strike. It was pretty heavily circulated. But the rim, edge looks raised and thicker like you see on Proofs. Thanks for your time. I always enjoy your feedback.

Judging from the six 1981-S proof coins that I have, I am going to say tours is just a business strike. My reasoning is, even though your image is just a scan, the relief does not look the same as the six I have.

Chris12018 is correct. What you have there is a 1981 Lincoln Cent.

I've found a few like that, I usually chalk them up to a good strong strike.

Seal, Tempting...LOL
I didn't think of it being struck on a proof planchet, Thanks Ricardocody. The scan does no justice, I was hoping their might be a way to tell from a certain design style they only used on proofs, Like you find with 99 CAM's. It weighs 3.1 grams. With a .1 - +. Going to give my cell phone a shot, see if I can capture what I see. Glad to hear theirs others out their. The other thing I was thinking is someone might of taken an eraser to it. But it just to Proof Like. I see what your saying compared to relief of a Proof. Thought it was a surprise hidden treasure. Well made that roll a little more interesting.

Being struck on a rejected proof planchet is a possibility. San Francisco did strike over 880 million business strike 1981 cents with no mintmark. If they had some rejected proof planchets they could very well have redirected them over to the business strike lines.
