Visited my mother in law in Canberra and my Brother in law in Sydney
and had an opportunity to receive some older decimal coins from her as well as a few family mementos and the
60th anniversary of the end of WWII medallion and the 1993 75th anniversary of Australian on the western Front medallion along with some 1945-1995 Australia Remembers Freedom Tokens.
My brother in law a retired QANTAS pilot is now a building trades man and presented me with a number of decimal and predecimal coins he has found at his building sites.
I participated in a Remembrance day ceremony in Canberra and then of course I visited the Royal Australian Mint and minted a few coins of my own. Had a fun visit with bluefils and Yass at the ACT coin club.
I would like to thank them for inviting me and providing dinner and fellowship.
I was able to obtain a PNC I had been searching for and with the help of Bigfella I completed my Gold lunar coin set.
Was very limited with my time in Sydney due to work and family commitments but managed to visit the Rocks street market on Saturday and found a fella who was selling coins at a stall there.
Although he was a bit over priced, (he was selling to tourists) when I spoke with him he was willing to drop his price by 20 % on every item I asked him about. He says he does not have a shop nor does he belong to any of the forums but he has been selling coins there for a number of years.
Weather was wonderful the entire time except of course for the day we set a 101 year record for the coldest day in Sydney on that date.
for you ockers - It was just a typical visit home
for those of you not from the Lucky country.
Plan a visit to Australia and find a land even more exciting than it's coins.
