There is a great online English-Spanish resource for Spanish cobs at < http:/www.macuquina.com/index.html >. The site looks as if it has been updated to include more information about Mexican cobs since I last visited it (the site used to concentrate on cobs from Peru) and I have added the site to my favorites. The English and Spanish texts are side by side, providing good language practice too. Although the cob pieces (1536 - 1732) probably did not circulate extensively in the American colonies, I could not resist the temptation to have one of these 8-real pieces of pirate lore, possibly used in Port Royale, Jamaica, the den of iniquity destroyed in 1692 like Sodom and Gomorrah.
