Has The Slab Been Cracked?

I got a gold buffalo in an NGC slab today.

When getting ready to log it, I noticed a little tab of plastic about 3mm wide sticking out of the top and bottom of the slab. Using a loupe, I could see some of this inside the slab below the sealing edge. I cannot find another of my NGC slabs that have this.

Is it normal or is there a chance the slab was cracked and a lower grade inserted? Would photos help?

photo's would definitely help but I believe it would be hard to crack open a NGC slab and not have some sort of cracks in it around the seal because they are pretty hard to open (believe me I have opened quite a few) but if you can get some pictures we should be able to tell you either way
