I bought my first commemorative yesterday. A nice Lewis and Clark proof. The fields are beautiful mirrors but the figures are definitely not ultra or deep cameo. I bought it first because William Clark is a relative on my Father's family tree. I think I may have the itch on these commemoratives and my local dealer is loaded with them at or near melt.

Wonderful. You should find plenty to enjoy in the world of commemorative.

The L&C dollar resides in the modern commemorative dollar slot of my Dansco 7070. It is one of my favorites from the modern era as St Louis was the starting point for the original expedition and the center for many Louisiana Purchase Bicentennial events during 2003-04.

I have also added the Proof L&C dollar to my collection. The reverse is true work of art.
