I'm getting ready to make up a group of coins to send in for grading and need your opinions. The two Peace dollars are both obviously UNC but how far up the ladder they might go escapes me. I have the hardest time grading Peacies. I'm also throwing in another one for opinions. Please remain seated...
Peace dollars for me are extremely difficult. I am trying to put a high end set together. If you take a look at my last post on the dollars I got back from ICG, you'll see you might expect something coming back a 64 o 65 and it comes back a 61 or 62. The morgan on the other hand is gorgeous and I would say 63-64, especially with the toning
I'd give that Morgan a solid 64+ and will probably come back with a star for eye appeal. Graininess in left fields on obv/rev which I suspect is just the photo.
It might just be the lighting but the Peace dollars look like they could go either high AU or MS. I will take your word that they are both MS and say the first is a 64 and the second is a 63+. The morgan has really nice toning. I would guess 64 DMPL on that one.
My first thought on the Morgan was also PL, if not DMPL. The more I looked it over I wondered if that was prooflike finish in the fields or toning. You have it in hand and could evaluate better. Can't help on the Peaces, but they look nice.
