I came across 2 nickel rolls today full of dates in the 40s and 50s. Only one silver, a 42 and unfortunately no 50d. But this roll also had gold plated coins for 04 p d, 05 p d and 06 d. As well as an 06 d with a colored reverse and an 06 d with a holographic Monticello. Obviously I got part of a dumped collection, but does anyone know what the colored reverse, the hologram, or the gold plates are worth? I can't find much info on any...thanks

Hello Eric! Well I can tell you that gold plated coins aren't worth much. Because it's only plated and not an actual gold coin, its still well a nickel. As for the holographic coin, what do you mean? Can you describe what it looks like? I think what your trying to say may be that its a proof but it's hard for me to say without pictures. I'm not an expert on these but I know a little. But let's see what some other people say Oh yeah, forgot to mention

Trying to figure out pics now..I'm in between computers so all I have is my phone.
The 06 d 'hologram' looks just like a regular Nick except that Monticello is in the shiny fluorescent color. Definitely not just toning. Thanks for the input.

Alright, mines removed as per rules by moderator
If you would like to know how I post my pictures I will tell you.
I go to photobucket.com and I upload the photo and get the directlink code and paste it into a comment or thread. I think this is your best bet that way everyone who views this thread can see it and give their input.

They may be worth something to a few collectors but not to me. I consider them PMD. IMHO, John1

I would take that for 5 cents anyday. Really cool looking from the phone pictures. It probably shines pretty nice in hand. Congrats on the great rolls

So a dealer told me the mysterious 'holographic' Monticello is something private companies will do in an attempt to sell it for an outrageous price. No dice
