Can anyone suggest how to get my coins graded without mailing them? I'm in NJ and would love to be able to hand deliver them.

You could go to one of the coin shows that they attend and have them grade it on site. I am pretty sure they will be at the world's fair of money in Chicago about a week and a half from now. If you can't make that, check their websites for their show schedule.

Looks like PCGS will be on site grading at the Whitman Coin Expo on Sept 15-17 near you in Philadelphia.

I insure and send express mail, one day service.

So far no problems.

But you must have heard about the zillion dollar coin lost in the post office the other day. I do not know if it has been found.

Larry, I did not hear about that. What happened. I have sent hundreds of coins through the mail and have never had a problem yet Benigma.

Sorry I don't remember all the details.

Some one won over a $100,000.00 auction.

I don't believe it was one of the big auction houses.

The coin was shipped by USPS(I don't know what service)and was lost at one of the transfer POs.

It was within the last two or three weeks.

I would not think the coin could be insured or that kind of money through the PO.

All of the proper authorities were investigating.

The best I can remember

I haven't heard of this either. I have sent many packages through the mail but for the higher priced coins I sent them through registered mail where everyone that touches the package has to sign for it. It doesn't mean nothing will happen it just means the possibility is far less with registered mail

I don't know if this coin is the one that Larry is talking about but it does sort of fit his description. Here's a link to the article:

As is common the original question gets lost. In a little while someone will be discussing feathers on birds.
If you think about it driving, flying, etc to a place where at a coin show there are individuals that can grade your coin could end up costing you thousands of dollars. Transportation, lodging, food, etc. Sending in a registered or insured package in the USPS or even via UPS is a lot cheaper.
