yes, I know the issues with the grading company. But I got this because I like the coin, and it, like me, turned 50 this year. Is it a red? ms? No good at ul photos so sorry if this doesn't come out right first time.

It Looks red to me for sure. As far as ms goes, it is too hard to tell from the pic. Too far away. Is that a black spot on the coin?

Looks red, probably MS as these are common in MS red.....but it's not MS-70, more likely 63/64.

Here is another photo. Now, the scanner is not doing this justice.

I was going to say that it looks like a red but with the new scans I am not as sure anymore. There seems to be a darker area in the field right in front of Lincoln. The coin still seems to be MS though.

Quote: But I got this because I like the coin, and it, like me, turned 50 this year. Happy 50th Birthday! I'm planning on hitting that milepost sometime in 2012. to CCF btw... My Two Cents?...(for what it's worth anyways...) I say crack that puppy outta the slab and put it into a "happy-birthday-to-me" coin folder/album... Perhaps a special "mint-set" holder? That particular coin is worth more to you than it is to anybody else... It's a "keeper"...

I looked for clean...didn't find anything that was different than any other pennies. Clean usually has a lot of micro scratches?

Looks very typical of the coins one would find in an MS Roll. Most of those are MS-60 through MS-63 with the occasional MS-64 or MS-65. The coin pictured is not an MS-70 most likely this basement slabber just bought the rolls for $8 each (about 16 cents per penny), put them in cases labeled MS-70, and then marked up the price by 800%. You can buy rolls online very cheap: http://www.cheapslabs.com/shop/inde...tail&p=49153

fenton nailed it! The slab means nothing, in fact, I'd be embarrassed to have another collector see I own it. LOL It you wanted to celebrate your birthday, buy a whole roll in MS red.
