I am roll searching nickel and this is my first interesting and hopefully good fine. I believe it is a 1999d, but it is hard to read. I am new to errors so just want information if you can provide any.

Here is obverse. It is weaker then the picture makes it look. To get it big enough I took the picture through a magnifying glass.

Here is another picture of the same obverse.Struck-Through-Die-Cap,-Nickel.

Here is reverse. It looks normal minus the PMD nick on the northwest rim.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Ding, ding, ding- we have a winner

You have a nickel struck through a capped die, most definitely an error and probably worth around $10.

Yeah, this is my 8th box and I am trying to complete a set from circulation. I have found no hole fillers from this box, but this helps make it worth it.

Nice find! I'm still looking for my first coin struck through a capped die. I've had a 1 cent die cap, but none of the coins that it struck. I also want to find a nice struck through cloth.

I've had several coins with small to medium strike throughs, but none with the full obverse or reverse covered.

Excellent find! These are tough to come by in circulation. Here is an earlier thread with some excellent descriptions of the various stages of struck through die cap coins:
