I decided to go into my local coin shop today, I was hoping to get a 1/10 oz gold eagle, but with the gold prices going haywire, I really wanted to hold off.

I ended up getting a .0482 oz 2 pesos gold coin. This is my first foreign coin (other then a few grizzlies I picked up), its really small, and he charges 5% over spot for all of his "bullion". So I got the gold peso for 87$, which seemed like a great deal to me.

I also got 14$ (face) silver quarters. The guy was extremely nice, and hand picked out some of the nicer quarters. A good bit of them even have a proof like finish, and he only charged me 28x face, which is a little under spot. Please see attached pictures, but they dont do some of the quarters justice.

Also picked up these guys not to long ago. Got them about a month ago, and so far seem like a great investment. I really feel like silver has a better future then gold.

You got the right price on the Peso the normal premium is 5% on this coin. Some time most dealers want to pay 5%-10% less for the same coin though.

You did well on the silver quarters buying them at what is around the going high buy price from most of the larger bullion dealers as of Friday close.

You have a nice start.

Real nice silver quarters, those are great to have, barter money perhaps one day they could be....

Those Dos Peso gold coins go for about 99 start bids, an buy it now 125 on ebay these days, when a few months back you could get for 80 to 100 all day....

Also note the 1 20th Panda non key dates are going for about 120 on auction end, an 122 to 125 cheapest on buy it now. of course some go way higher, rarity, date, etc....

The 1 25th oz. Isle of cat coins are going for same rate....

Another thing I notice today I liked, is half sov proofs are bringing 330 to 350, and I picked up two at 193 an 194 a few months back. Also American Gold Eagle 1 10th are 215 low end on ebay, up to 230 to 250 for proofs....

The Liberia 3/4 gram gold coins are still way affordable from 30 to 60 bucks, and they are pure gold, and add up very nice as 11 of them is right at a quarter oz. of gold....

I'm just staring at your 10 - 1 ounce silvertowne bars. Been looking for a set like that or a 10 ouncer. I'm jealous. :P

With so many warnings about fakes out there, I'm afraid to get anything I'm not familiar with, like that gold coin you got. Wouldn't have a clue of it's value. Looks nice thou. I might have to start researching gold coins outside of the US if I keep seeing coins like yours. haha.

Must be one reason I don't buy anything on ebay - prices are way to high for those. That is like going to APMEX for small gold coins way to high.

I don't like to buy most foreign gold with the exception of a few countries. Depending on where you are trying to sell it they want to give way to much less than spot.

Kudos on the new additions to your collection!

The US silver quarters are especially nice. I need to get some of those for my collection as well. I already have some dimes, halves, and dollars but no quarters yet.

Those SilverTowne 1-oz. bars are also very nice in their plastic wrap. That will protect them and keep them looking nice for a long time.
