Sept. 7-9 and 12 auction event feature the famous "Ides of March" denarius celebrating Cesar's murder, the incomparable Dr. Norman Jacobs Collections of Japan and Korea, and a host of international numismatic treasures at the Long Beach Convention Center

BEVERLY HILLS, CA -- The Norman Jacobs Collection of Japanese and Korean numismatic rarities, highlighted by an incredible set of 1909 Korean Yung Hi gold, Year 3, in 5 Won, 10 Won and 20 Won denominations, collectively expected to bring well more than $1,000,000 -- along with the "Ides of March" Denarius, which openly celebrates the assassination of Julius Caesar and is the most famous ancient coin in the world -- anchor Heritage Auctions' Long Beach Signature® World & Ancient Coins Auction, Sept. 7-9, and Sept. 12, at the Long Beach Convention Center.

The Dr. Norman Jacobs Collection of Korea and Japan, as mentioned above includes a set of 1909 Korean Yung Hi gold, Year 3, in 5 Won, 10 Won and 20 Won denominations, collectively estimated at $1,500,000+, making it the unabashed centerpiece of the auction's hundreds of incredible Patterns, ultra rarities, proof issues and regular numismatic issues from Asia, including more than 350 lots of Japanese coins and banknotes and 91 lots of Korean coins and banknotes. The auction also includes more than 500 Chinese rarities, including dozens of early Chinese issues and an incredible grouping of modern coins and coin sets, consigned from world class collections to compliment the amazing offerings from the Jacobs Collection, including the legendary 1910 Chinese Dragon Dollar -- called the Yunnan Spring Dollar, just one of two known, expected to bring in excess of $700,000.

The auction also boasts an especially strong section of Ancient coins, close to 1,000 lots in all (450 in the Floor Sessions, with 550 included in Non-Floor Sessions), with the Rubicon Collection at its heart, including the famous "Ides of March" denarius, struck in circa 44-42 BC, an example of the most famous ancient coin ever struck and the only one to ever openly celebrate an act of murder. It is estimated at $450,000+.

Latin American rarities have been in ever-increasing demand in the past several years, and the Sept. 7-9, and Sept. 12 Long Beach event boasts plenty to interest these collectors, with an amazing selection of Brazilian colonial gold gems in The HR Collection of Brazilian Gold Gems, consisting of dozens of mint state Brazilian coins, all pre-1760, and the Tarapaca Collection of Chilean Coins featuring the Republic Coquimbo Peso 1828-TH, a classic Latin American rarity estimated at $30,000+ and a 1768 Carlos III Pillar 8 Reales, a superior example of this important coin, estimated at $30,000+.

Collectors of Mexican numismatics will find plenty to deliberate on in this auction, with more than 200 lots, including an 8 Escudos 1813 from Guadalajara, estimated at $30,000+, an MS66 Maximillian 20 Pesos, the finest known by at least two points, estimated at $12,000+.

Highlights of the European coins include more than 400 lots from Great Britain, including a simply superb 1893 Five Pound gold piece in MS67, amongst the finest known and estimated at $50,000+, along with a choice "Una and the Lion" 1839 gold 5 Pound coin in MS63, estimated at $37,500.

Russian rarities are always in high demand with collectors and, with more than over 130 lots of Russia in the auction, collectors are likely to appreciate what they see, including two Catherine II gold 10 Roubles, each estimated at $10,000+, a Nicolas platinum Three Rouble in MS66, estimated at $10,000+, along with several proof Roubles and other rare Russian issues.
