Conventional Wisdom says paying a premium on fractionals is OK, since you get it back when you sell.

This may still be true when reselling individual coins, but here's a major dealer who not only is paying a premium on oz, but buys fractionals at less than spot.

I wouldn't sell to that major dealer but would instead sell it here or Craigslist it.

True, but the difference is if you want to sell $100,000 worth, Silvertowne can cut you a check. There may or may not be a buyer for $1000 worth on ebay or cbay.

Selling gold on Craig's List brings out the scammers. It's entertaining to see the scams they try to pull, but it gets annoying.

And therein lies the difference between a buyer and a DEALER.

Not that I have $100k worth of PMs at the moment but it is something well worth considering for the future.
