I'm consider using Eagle Proof Set album pages for storing proof sets. I hate keeping these in boxes, as you can't flip through an album and look at them, like I can all my coins in 3-ring binder 2x2 album pages. I've also found a solution for mint sets using 4x6 photo pages from BCW which I think works pretty well, and is a much cheaper alternative than Eagle's mint set albums.

So far, the Eagle Proof Set album pages seem like the best thing I've found, but they're a little spendy. So I have the following questions:

1) Has anyone found a good way to display proof sets in albums without breaking open the sets (other than the Eagle pages)?

2) Failing that, can anyone recommend a cheap source for these albums and pages. The cheapest I found is at brooklyngallery.com, which were cheaper than ordering directly from Eagle's website. But also still a little pricey at brooklyngallery.com

Thanks for your help.

All of my Proof ASE's are staying in their prospective O.G.P's.

I have NO problem cracking EVERYTHING else out of their O.G.P.'s and putting them all into their place inside my Dansco's, I just can't seem to want to do that for my ASE's though.....
I figure, after all, part of the Mint price for these IS THE PACKAGING !

And I actually LIKE the little velvet case they come in too ! .....
So, I don't want to throw the cases in the garbage.....nor do I wish to save & store a bunch of "empty cases" for infinity with no real usable purpose that will actually ever be implemented.

I admit, they would REALLY shine in an album......but I'll have to live vicariously through you and others on THAT one ! ....

I'm sorry !

I think I mis-read your post !.....

You weren't talking about storing "ASE's" in there......you were refering to "unopened Proof Sets"...... correct ?

...oops!

What I am speaking about are Eagle brand Proof Set albums, such as seen at this link:

They're designed to hold proof set lenses for display in an album.

I only use the Eagle pages and their black 2x2s. I've got all my slabbed SAEs (complete years) and Morgans in the pages and 2x2s.

I like the pages, the 2x2s are OK, but won't stay snapped together so I use a tiny bit of Super Glue on em. Save your money on their binders as you can use any ol' binder to store the pages.

Duplicates and those still in the original mint boxes go in the shoebox.

Bottom line, the pages are great.

I got my Eagle albums and pages at Brent-Krueger. They were much cheaper than the Eagle web site.
